This article examines the territorial divisions of languages spoken in Ecuador and Venezuela, using the grammatical transversality of person as a linguistic criterion for analysis. Spatial and grammatical data from 10 Ecuadorian and 21 Venezuelan languages, documented in the 20th and 21st centuries, were analyzed. By applying georeferencing techniques in areal typology and classifying information based on the presence of person across various word classes, two major linguistic divisions were identified: the Pacific and Northern Sierra regions, forming the Ecuadorian macro-area; and the Arawak/Arahuacan Periphery versus the Venezuelan macro-area in Venezuela. The marking of person in adjectives serves as the unifying criterion for distinguishing these areas in both countries.
