Abstract

GAVIRIA, Alejandro  and  HOYOS, Alejandro. Determinants of teacher evaluation: The case of Universidad de los Andes. Desarro. soc. [online]. 2008, n.61, pp.87-117. ISSN 0120-3584.

This paper examines the determinants of teacher and course evaluations at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. The paper ex plores how teacher and course characteristics affect evaluation results. Grades obtained by students directly and positively affect teacher evaluations. Class size negatively affects the results of the evaluations. Finally whether teachers are full or part-time as well as years of experience of teachers have a negligible impact on evaluations.
