Abstract

PAZ, Jorge. The Segmentation in the Labor Market in Argentina. Desarro. soc. [online]. 2013, n.72, pp.105-156. ISSN 0120-3584.  https://doi.org/10.13043/DYS.72.3.

This paper, analyze the segmentation in the Argentinean labor market. A labor market is segmented if similar workers generate different results (for example, wages), if there are wage setting mechanisms differ, and barriers which prevent worker mobility. Static and dynamic data and different methods (parametric and non-parametric) are used to test for the existence of segmentation in the labor market. The results allow a re-think of public policies which impact upon the workings of the labour market.

Keywords : Labor segmentation; informality; exact matching; endogenous bias selection.
