Abstract

DE LA OSSA, Melisa; PEREZ BURGOS, Javier  and  CASTRO R., Raúl. The Economic Impact of Urban Renewal Projects in Bogota: An Assessment Using 2010 SAM Multipliers. Desarro. soc. [online]. 2016, n.77, pp.81-130. ISSN 0120-3584.  https://doi.org/10.13043/DYS.77.3.

Bogota's administration is planning urban renewal processes, mainly in downtown. What are the potential economic impacts of these plans? This study estimates the economic impacts of the Urban Renovation Partial Plans (URPP), their effect on income distribution and their impact on employment, using the Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) for 2010. Results reveal that every $ 1 invested on these partial plans would generate $ 2.1 on the total of intermediate production. This effect on production would generate about 12 thousand new jobs. Aggregate value of the economy would increase in $ 592,662 million pesos, meaning that for every $ 1 invested, $ 1.14 would go to factor remuneration. Household incomes would increase in $ 465,760 million pesos, and this increase would favor medium and low-income households.

Keywords : Urban renewal (Thesaurus); social accounting matrix; economic impact; economic multipliers (author's key words).
