Abstract

RODRIGUEZ CORDOBA, María del Pilar  and  BUSTAMANTE LOZANO, Uriel. Ethical management behavior competence development: an approach from the perspective of responsibility. Cuad. Adm. [online]. 2008, vol.21, n.35, pp.205-228. ISSN 0120-3592.

This article answers the question, “How can we develop ethical management behavior?” It employs a hermeneutic methodology to suggest training programs aimed at developing ethical managerial competences, using the empirical results obtained from research conducted by the Universidad Nacional de Colombia Manizales campus research group Ethos. This article discusses management ethics, within the context of the concept of responsibility, and developing competences for ethical management behavior. It presents and illustrates the results of the research project Developing Competences for Ethical Management Behavior, on which this article is based, and concludes that an approach from the perspective of responsibility emphasizes the manager’s commitment to create, apply, and transmit knowledge that responds to company needs, as well as to manage sustainable development projects.

Keywords : Company ethics; management ethics; responsibility; developing competences; ethical management behavior; organizational behavior.
