GRUESO HINESTROZA, Merlín Patricia. Gender discrimination in human resource processes: an open secret. Cuad. Adm. [online]. 2009, vol.22, n.39, pp.13-30. ISSN 0120-3592.

Certain human management processes promote horizontal and vertical discrimination of women, making it seriously difficult for them to have egalitarian conditions regarding access to work and job stability. The main objective of the present study was to analyze five human management practices from agender perspective, taking into account certain aspects that, according to the literature on the topic, are particularly sensitive to gender prejudice and stereotyping. Thus, based on literature review, it is possible to conclude that human management practices, as far as they are not formalized and adequately instrumented, allow the perpetuation of this type of discrimination. Similarly, it is concluded that, with regards to human management, gender perspective is more than just a strategic or operational issue. It is in fact, a matter of human rights whose observance promotes better environments with improved life quality and wellbeing; all of which depends centrally on the initiative of organizations.

Palavras-chave : Human management practices; gender; organizations.
