Abstract

GALVEZ ALBARRACIN, Edgar Julián  and  GARCIA PEREZ DE LEMA, Domingo. Organizational culture and performance of medium/high-technology SMEs: an empirical study in Cali, Colombia. Cuad. Adm. [online]. 2011, vol.24, n.42, pp.125-145. ISSN 0120-3592.

This article is intended to provide empirical verification of the relationship between the organizational culture of a business and its performance. For this, a study was made of 60 medium- and high-technology SMEs in Cali, Colombia. The results show that the clan-type cultures and the innovation-type cultures have a positive impact on business performance, while the hierarchical type has a negative one. These results reinforce the theory that organizational culture is a decisive factor in achieving business competitiveness, and will be most useful to businessmen themselves, and for organizations that promote their knowledge and development, including development organizations and the academic sector.

Keywords : Organizational culture; performance; SMEs.
