Abstract

ARRENDONDO TRAPERO, Florina Guadalupe  and  VAZQUEZ PARRA, José Carlos. A rational analysis model for managerial decision making, from the Elsterian perspective. Cuad. Adm. [online]. 2013, vol.26, n.46, pp.135-158. ISSN 0120-3592.

An analytical model for rational management decision making based on the Elsterian perspective is presented. By integrating the desires, beliefs and preferences that influence decision makers, the model allows a more complex approach to the specific factors that affect decisions. These factors correspond to the autonomy of desires, the amount of evidence required to support the beliefs held by managers, and an optimal building of preferences when it comes to evaluating alternatives. By taking these elements into consideration, the model achieves a more rational process that reduces uncertainty in management decisions and, therefore, in orienting them towards organizational purposes.

Keywords : rationality; decision making; beliefs; desires; preferences.
