Abstract

JIMENEZ P., INDHIRA M.  and  MOLINA E., JORGE M.. PROPOSAL FOR THE MEASURING OF THE PRODUCTIVITY IN MINING OF VEIN GOLD MINERALIZATION AND RECOGNITION OF SUSTAINABLE STANDARD PROCEDURES.. Bol. cienc. tierra [online]. 2006, n.19, pp.73-86. ISSN 0120-3630.

The productivity is a representative element when measuring the effectiveness in extractive mining. This document shows a proposal for the measurement of the productivity in extractive mining applied mainly to vein gold mineralization, as a ratio between the real cost and the reference cost. The real cost is found according to the measures taken in mining practice, and the reference cost is based on some adjustments that in practice are possible to improve, as sustainable standard procedures. The determination of these costs are carried out using a file in Excel where the mining process is divided in mining stages, which are: Preparation, Development and Extraction which are then divided in the mining representative operations: Drilling, Blasting, Supporting, Loading and Transportation, with the purpose of establishing the stage and/or mining operation where the largest costs are presented. Starting from the most expensive stage and/or mining operation, we would propose possible solutions for the reduction of the cost for mined ton of mineral, which will mean an improvement in the productivity. This proposal was applied in two areas; the first one in Marmato (Caldas), and the second in the Segovia and Remedios mining district (Antioquia). In Marmato the total productivity index was 0,9; for the Segovia and Remedios district it was 0,93 in Poma Rosa mine, 0,88 in La Picuda mine, 0,77 in Cogote mine and 0,63 in El Castillo mine. Some recommendations were generated taken account that indexes which coul be applied with the purpose of increasing the productivity. Given in million current Colombian pesos $. $C 2.300 are equivalent to $US 1.

Keywords : productivity; extractive mining; vein gold mineralization.
