The present paper shows the application of Capacities and Resources theory to the study of the current conditions of mining sector in northeast in department of Antioquia - Colombia; Every stage in resource analysis is presented, and at the end, some proposal of central competencies applicable to this sector are presented. This paper is framed in productive processes research line of Research and Organizational Consulting Group (GICO by its acronym in spanish) at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
