Abstract

ESCOBAR TORO, Luis Javier  and  VALENCIA GONZALEZ, Yamile. ANALYSIS AND PROBABILITY OF FAILURE OF TWO TROPICAL SOIL SLOPE OF HIGHWAY MEDELLIN - BOGOTA IN THE STRETCH OF ROAD BETWEEN MARINILLA AND SANTUARIO.. Bol. cienc. tierra [online]. 2012, n.31, pp.51-64. ISSN 0120-3630.

In practice, it is common to define the slope stability in terms of a safety factor (S.F.), obtained from a deterministic mathematical analysis of stability; whose models must take into account the factors that affect the stability such as the geometry of the slope, geological parameters, the effect of dynamic loads of earthquakes, water flows, soil properties, etc. This is why the present study evaluates the stability for different inclinations of two soil slopes of tropical origin, located at km 41 +500 and km 49 +200 of the Medellin - Bogotá highway, between Marinilla and Santuario, by applying probabilistic methods to estimate not only the safety factor, but the probability of failure, the reliability index and the most influential soil parameter on the stability, in order to determine the more safe slope in the execution of this section of the road.
