SANCHEZ ARREDONDO, Luis Hernán; GIRALDO BOLIVAR, Orlando  e  MUNERA D, Julian. ATTENUATION EQUATIONS ANALYSIS FOR SEISMIC PROJECT THREATENS THE DEPARTMENT OF ANTIOQUIA. Bol. cienc. tierra [online]. 2012, n.31, pp.85-96. ISSN 0120-3630.

In this research we chose the attenuation equations based on the relationship between ground acceleration and the magnitude and focal distance of the site considered the epicenter. Under these conditions and based on the expressions and compiled by Douglas[1], Mesa y Toro[2], is classified a total of 18 attenuation equations consistent with the information and characteristics desired. Additionally, graphical methods were used, the coefficient of variation and the absolute difference to select the expression that best fits the geological conditions of the region under study. From comparisons with previous methods shows that the models in the references consulted, reflect a low correlation with the results obtained instrumentally acceleration following the earthquake in Armenia in January 25, 1999. Looking at the results and the differences obtained were chosen to attend an additional method called multi-instrumental comparison and see the results taking into account also the earthquake in Armenia[3] (1999), Murindo quakes (1979) and Mistrato (1992) with their respective distances to the city of Medellin. Finally decide to use the equation of Kawashima[1] (1984) for soft soil, as was the expression that best fits the overall seismic attenuation in the department of Antioquia.
