Abstract

BUSTAMANTE-RUA, Moisés Oswaldo; DAZA-ARAGON, Alan José; BUSTAMANTE-BAENA, Pablo  and  BARROS-DAZA, Manuel Julián. Simulation of processing minerals plants in Colombia through MODSIM®. Bol. cienc. tierra [online]. 2016, n.39, pp.33-37.. ISSN 0120-3630.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rbct.n39.50451.

The aim of this study was the analysis of two particular scenarios of the mining industry such as kaolin and coal, to determine the usefulness of MODSIM® software in the simulation of mining-metallurgical processing plants. To do this, started from some review of the literature and information obtained as a result of the trips were made to mines that were studied. Among the results, it was clear that the use of this software provides great advantages in learning efficiency in plants mineral processing, as was observed in the batteries of hydrocyclones for separation of kaolin where some problems arise in this operation; while in the specific coal washing process, a good separation is achieved. This is of vital importance in mineral processing plants, since it shows the efficiency of the equipment and, in turn, facilitates the adoption of corrective measures to improve the process, and therefore the final recovery.
