The Geological Itinerary of the coastal strip between the “Simón Bolívar” International Airport and the Taganga Bay, Santa Marta Geotectonic Province, represents a natural geological laboratory of great importance for the understanding of the geological evolution of the northwestern margin of South America. This work is the result of research conducted by the authors for several years and contains an updated and extensively illustrated the state of knowledge of the geological attractions of this region, with a significant contribution to the literature of regional geological. For the first time a job of this nature to the scope of the Massif Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is presented, highlighting geological evidence of phenomena that have affected our planet. The large variety of outcrops (of stratigraphic, geomorphological, mineralogical, petrological, tectonic, etc. interest), together with the quality of exposure, makes them a great scientific and educational potential. The geological attractions included in this work in addition to their scientific and educational value, have added value thanks to its scenic appeal. Its uniqueness and beauty makes some of these places are utilized as geotourism resource.
