Abstract
LANDINEZ, David; CALVO, Martha and CARDENAS, Carolina. Characterization of clays materials from Guaviare river, La Paz, Colombia. Bol. cienc. tierra [online]. 2018, n.44, pp.31-37. ISSN 0120-3630. https://doi.org/10.15446/rbct.n44.63248.
Clays are the main material in ceramic elements in Colombia, which are part of the tradition, culture and money income of many families in the country. The clay used in this work was taken from the Guaviare River, located in the region of Guaviare (Colombia). A physicochemical characterization was made using the mechanic separation technique, X-ray diffraction techniques (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (FRX) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was concluded that the material is composed of Silicon (50%) and Aluminum (20%) with impurities of Iron, Magnesium and Titanium. For its components this could be used as ceramic material for construction. It is desired that the results of this work help to find future uses for this clay.
