Abstract

SOUSA MOTA,, ANTONIO RAIMUNDO; LIBORIO,, LUIZ ALENCAR  and  COSTA MOURAO BARBOSA, JOSÉ CARLOS. MEDIA, RELIGIOUS VALUES AND CONCEPTIONS OF GOD AMONG THE STUDENTS OF THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF PERNAMBUCO, BRAZIL. Theol. Xave. [online]. 2009, vol.59, n.167, pp.251-282. ISSN 0120-3649.

This article shows the results of a field research randomly applied to 300 students of the Catholic University of Pernambuco, Brazil, UNICAP, inquiring their conception of God and their religious values and how they are affected by the media. It appears that the representations of God are of a traditional pattern (God Creator, Punishing God) or of a syncretistic style (New Age, Pantheism, ancestral religious practices peculiar to Brazil). The religious values that have been minimally changed by the media over the family and school values.
