Abstract

GUEVARA LLAGUNQ, Miren Jvnkal. Exile and Diaspora: Israel without a temple?. Theol. Xave. [online]. 2012, vol.62, n.174, pp.379-398. ISSN 0120-3649.

Bible's historical narrative (1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicles) and its perspective of the assault to Samaria and mainly the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem by Babylonians, suggest that both events resulted in the total disappearance of any kind of cults by Israelites. Consideration of other Biblical sources such as prophet Jeremiah and mainly certain extra-biblical sources, forced us to consider this hypothesis more carefully and to assess the possible existence of a form of cult where exiles and émigrés gathered.

Keywords : Temple; exile; Diaspora,; deportation; cult.
