Abstract

PUNGUTA HURTADO, Silvestre. The Oracle against Israel: A Reading of Am 2,6-16. Theol. Xave. [online]. 2012, vol.62, n.174, pp.455-484. ISSN 0120-3649.

Within the wide framework of teaching and in the interest of knowing and sharing an objective knowledge of the first writing prophet, the aim of this article is to provide an exegetic approach to a text that represents the intrinsic importance of the book of Amos. Resources of the historical critical method are employed: contextualization, identification or usage traces of literary genres, basic structure and some variants. A valuable result of this approach is the precision and range of the blames that the prophet places on Israel on behalf of God.

Keywords : Poor; fair; sin; choice; historical preamble.
