Health administrators are constantly challenged by their role in the management of organizational processes in complex social contexts. This essay presents a reflection on the ethical challenges that face health administrators, originated in the socioeconomic contexts of the contemporary era, as well as those related to the exercise of health administration in its functional areas: administrative processes, human talent management, financial management, management of care processes and health research. The ethical reflection, from different perspectives, is a necessary path to find answers to moral contradictions and to discern the complex arbitrations of being (ontology) and, of duty (deontology), without losing focus on the purpose of health administration which is to improve health and quality of life of populations .

Keywords : Health administration; professional ethics; ethics in health administration; theory of ethics.
