Abstract

RIOS, Sandra Marcela  and  RAMOS, Juan Carlos. Repercussions of Piaget's Theory on Social Science Education. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2011, n.60, pp.61-70. ISSN 0120-3916.

This paper explores the relationship between psychology and social science education since seventies as a result of the inclusion in the Colombian teaching system of educational technology curricular model. Besides, it examines the reaction this model entailed in the educational field through the 'Movimiento Pedagógico' and Constructivism as a reply of educational psychology to behaviorism itself enforced as a teaching practice of social science. Finally, the article suggests some of the main teaching strategies that social science teachers applied to their educational work in order to include certain ideas and assumptions proposed by Piaget in the education field.

Keywords : Piaget; educational technology; Constructivism; social science; pedagogical movement.
