This paper deals an overview about historian Fernán González, a leading thinker whose big academic production is already a part of the Colombian historiography. It also reveals his ties, groups, networks, institutions and a context of the country during the second half of 20th century, all of them joining his personal searches and helping to understand his work, his leadership and a political guide of his work.
