Cognitive style is a topic of interest for understanding individual differences that exist in the teaching-learning process. These differences have not been studied in the deaf population. This article describes the cognitive style in deaf students. The sample consisted of 40 students, 20 are deaf subjects and 20 are hearing subjects. The identified cognitive style was Field Dependence and Independence (FDI). The instrument used was EFT (Embedded Figures Test). The results were organized to describe the following relationships: cognitive style and hearing student' condition, cognitive style and communicative and educational modality, cognitive style and hearing parents' condition, and cognitive style and sex.
