Abstract

ARIAS GOMEZ, Diego H  and  TORRES PUENTES, Elizabeth. The Narrow Perspective of Teacher Excellence in Educational Public Policies - To Be Good Is to Get a High Evaluation?. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2014, n.67, pp.47-65. ISSN 0120-3916.

This text is a reflection paper upon teacher issue, particularly about the way the excellence of this profession valuation is subject to the interests and discourses of political and economic groups to fight over the horizon and meaning of education. To this end, a brief historical review postulating different demands on faculty has been made. Finally, the study shows how, in recent decades, an idea has been in fashion about teacher’s suitability in connection with measurement, assessment, and international standards.

Keywords : Teaching excellence; teaching practice; teacher issue; public education policies.
