Abstract

GOMEZ, Pedro  and  VELASCO, Carlos. Complexity and Coherence of Colombian Curricular Documents. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2017, n.73, pp.261-281. ISSN 0120-3916.  https://doi.org/10.17227/01203916.73rce259.279.

At the end 2016, the Ministry of Education of Colombia published preliminary versions of two curricular documents: the second version of the Basic Learning Rights and the first version of the learning plans. These documents are intended as a complement to the Basic Standards of Competences that teachers and schools have been implementing for the past ten years. In this paper, we provide a curriculum analysis of these documents, which we find to be significantly complex and to have multiple inconsistencies. As a result, we cannot say that all Colombian teachers and institutions are able to understand their content, interpret it properly and implement it with the purpose of contributing to student learning.

Keywords : curricular documents; equity in education; basic learning rights; curriculum implementation; teacher's curriculum practices.
