Abstract
SANCHEZ-OBANDO, Jhon Wilder and DUQUE-MENDEZ, Néstor. Media, Information and Digital Literacy: Evolution of the Concept and Some Found Perspectives. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2022, n.86, pp.211-232. Epub Dec 22, 2022. ISSN 0120-3916. https://doi.org/10.17227/rce.num86-12524.
The importance of the concept of Media, Information, and Digital Literacy (MIDL) in different social contexts, lies in the critical capacity of individuals and society in relation to the sources of information with which they interact in their daily activities. Despite their relevance, there is a limited academic production related to current approaches and applications, and upcoming perspectives. This article reports the review of the literature on MIDL considering the factor mentioned above. A total of 370 papers published between 2001 and 2019 in Web of Science and Scopus databases were involved in the study, and the Tree of Science (ToS) algorithm was also subsequently applied to identify the most relevant literature on the topic. The results showed that the MIDL concept presents three perspectives: the MILD concept and its use in the health sector, news with its effects on society, and literacy as a tool to validate the information. In the analysis of networks, in the different components of the tree, 10 works are highlighted for each perspective that allowed consolidating the discussion.
