Abstract
ARIAS-ORTEGA, Katerin and QUINTRIQUEO, Segundo. Emotional Dimension in the Pedagogical Relationship in Intercultural Education in Chile. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2023, n.88, pp.348-368. Epub Jan 23, 2024. ISSN 0120-3916. https://doi.org/10.17227/rce.num88-13907.
The article exposes research results on the emotional dimension of the educational relationship between the teacher, traditional educator, educational assistant, and indigenous students in the intercultural education in La Araucanía, Chile. The research methodology is qualitative, and it uses a descriptive approach. The participants were a mentor teacher, a traditional educator, an education assistant, and 19 students from a school in the Mapuche communities of La Araucanía. The main results show a conflicted educational relationship, which limits the emotional development between the mentor teacher and the traditional educator. And, between the two towards Mapuche students, a product of inter-ethnic and intra-ethnic tensions in school education. We conclude that this tension between educational actors hurts Mapuche students, affecting their emotional development and the construction of their sociocultural identity.
