CRUZ, Norella  e  PARAMO, Pablo. Assessments on Climate Change in Colombian University Students. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2023, n.89, pp.33-58.  Epub 08-Mar-2024. ISSN 0120-3916.  https://doi.org/10.17227/rce.num89-13943.

This study explores the assessment made by Colombian university students from different disciplinary areas about climate change (CC), compared to other global problems that are affecting both, the country, and the world, establishing to whom they confer responsibility for their solution. The sampling was done by quotas in 10 public universities for a total of 1184 participants, who fulfilled an ad hoc survey that was made up of 12 questions. Students were grouped into three disciplinary areas: those related to nature (can), those related to social science and psychology (CSP), and other disciplines (o). General results suggest that students believe that CC exists, and it is mainly due to humans causes. Most students consider that there is scientific agreement about the existence of the phenomenon, and that mitigation action is more important than reducing consumption in general. Moreover, they confer on themselves the main responsibility of actions to face CC and give CC the fourth position among 10 suggested global problems to be solved. To analyze the incidence of disciplinary area over the answers, a Chi-square was used, and it showed significant differences. The findings are discussed based on the importance of mainstreaming CC in the curricula of all academic programs, particularly in disciplines different to natural sciences, as well as position the problem in relation of other world problems, and broad the students' perspective on the actions that have been proposed to mitigate the CC from different scientific perspectives.
