Abstract
CANETE ESTIGARRIBIA, Delia Lucía. Inclusion of Digital Competence in the Teachers Training Curriculum in Paraguay. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2025, n.95, a18912. Epub Apr 01, 2025. ISSN 0120-3916. https://doi.org/10.17227/rce.num95-18912.
In a society undergoing constant technological changes, digital competence is a highly relevant factor for teacher training as it helps address the current needs of students, enabling meaningful learning The Initial Teacher Training (ITT) curriculum must support the achievement of this competence. From that perspective, this study focuses on analyzing the digital competence proposed in the ITT curriculum in Paraguay. A qualitative, non-experimental cross-sectional approach with a descriptive scope was used, through content analysis of the programs of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) programs of 10 teaching degree courses and interviews with 12 participants. The results reveal a limited presence of digital competence, particularly in the evaluation of digital content, technical problem-solving, the creation of online learning courses, and legal aspects regarding copyright within the educational programs. The study concludes that there is a need to include more training areas and teaching hours related to digital competence in the curriculum design.
