FLECHA ORTIZ, José Anibal et al. A factors’ analysis on the crisis of qualified talents migration in Puerto Rico. cuad.adm. [online]. 2016, vol.32, n.56, pp.50-62. ISSN 0120-4645.
In recent years, Puerto Rico has been undergoing a historical fiscal crisis, which has led to the migration of qualified talents, with surprising statistics. This quantitative research aims to find out if the political, economic or social factor is the main force behind the decision for migration of qualified professionals in Puerto Rico; and to analyze if that political, economic or social factor is moderated by age, civil status, education level or gender. This research included 340 participants, and it was analyzed through PLS (Partial Least Squares). The results showed that social and political factors are associated with contemplating to emigrate, but the study reaffirms how the economic factor is the most influential one on the interest to emigrate. In the same way, the variables age, gender and civil status strengthen the impact of economic factors on the interest to leave the country.
