Abstract

VARGAS BEJARANO, Julio César. Reconciliation like forgiveness: an approach since Hannah Arendt. Prax. filos. [online]. 2008, n.26, pp.111-130. ISSN 0120-4688.

This article proposes to identify the central features of reconciliation and its relation to history and forgiveness. First, reconciliation is shown to be a mode of understanding that makes it possible to accept the irrevocability and irreversibility of actions and of human activity in general. Second, reconciliation is characterized as having a therapeutic or cathartic effect, by means of which experiences of suffering and pain are overcome, permitting the reestablishment within victims of trust in themselves and in their world, understood as the interweaving of personal relations.

Keywords : Reconciliation; history; forgiveness; understanding; action.
