Resumen

CUCHUMBE HOLGUIN, Nelson Jaír. Recognition of the collective identities: Approach from the perspective of Jürgen Habermas. Prax. filos. [online]. 2008, n.27, pp.103-120. ISSN 0120-4688.

This article discusses the problem of the recognition of collective identities in the context of a democratic state of law based on the interpretation suggested by Jürgen Habermas. The article presents, firstly, the problem of recognition of the demands of collective identities, and secondly, some theoretical assumptions prior to the debate with Taylor on the struggle for recognition in modern societies, and thirdly, some of elements that structure the theoretical interpretation of Jürgen Habermas surrounding the recognition of the unmet demands of collective identities. It is concluded that the recognition of collective identities can be articulated morally and politically if the democratic rule of law are created equal rights and participation. Conditions critical to that in the field of public social actors perform the exercise of civic autonomy, which must be oriented to clearly visualize the collective interests and criteria justified to deal just the different interests and needs of collective identities.

Palabras clave : recognition of the difference culture; democratic rule of law; citizen empowerment; basic rights articulation.
