This article present the first historic review of the academic development of the philosophy of science in Colombia and is intended to set the basis for further, more comprehensive, analyses about this philosophical area in the country. It is shown that a regular academic development in this area was effectively initiated as of the 1970s and that the main universities in the country began to normalize the practice on this subject in the early 1990s. In general, the academic history of the philosophy of science in Colombia is young and has above all focused on the dissemination of knowledge as well as interpretative work. This area of study is currently undergoing a process of consolidation which might be strengthened if there is a successful articulation and expansion of the efforts carried out in the last few years.
