RODRIGUEZ, Teresa. Diogenes Laertius' biographical model and Marsilio Ficino's "Vita Platonis". Prax. filos. [online]. 2016, n.43, pp.57-75. ISSN 0120-4688.
In this paper I propose that the biographical model found in Book 3 of the Diogenes Laertius' Lives has a flexible structure which categories can be "filled" or "emptied", according to the interests of the biographers. These interests are manifold and, through the centuries, have favored or avoided certain categories without implying that the model disappears; on the contrary, it seems to survive to this day. To show this, I analyze Marsilio Ficino's "Vita Platonis" (and Robichaud's interpretation of this "Vita") and compare it to Emilio Lledó's biographical sketch in the Spanish edition of Plato's Dialogues. I show that the model of Diogenes Laercio survives and that its structure is not surpassed, as commonly held
