Abstract

AGUIRRE, Javier. Habermas’ Postmetaphysical Analysis of Religion. Prax. filos. [online]. 2017, n.44, pp.119-146. ISSN 0120-4688.

This text analyses the conflicts between religious and non-religious citizens in the light of Habermas´ postmetaphysical perspective of the role of religion in the public sphere. As a backdrop we will present the recent debate over the “scientific concept” issued by a Professor of the Universidad de la Sabana, as part of the constitutional discussion about same - sex couples´ possibilities to adopt. I will begin by describing Habermas´ proposal of the role of religion in the public sphere. Then I will indicate what Habermas means by metaphysics in order to expound the roles that a postmetaphysical philosophy can have as well as the main elements of a postmetaphysical approach to religion. Finally, some conclusions will be presented.

Keywords : Postmetaphysical Thinking; Religion; Public Sphere; Democracy; Metaphysics.
