Abstract

ALVAREZ, William. Technique and Conformity in Order in Kantian aesthetics. Prax. filos. [online]. 2017, n.45, pp.29-55. ISSN 0120-4688.  https://doi.org/10.25100/pfilosofica.v0i45.6052.

This article aims to explain the function of the concepts of purposiveness and technique in the ensemble of aesthetic philosophy in Kant’s work. Based on these concepts’ function, the correlation with the concepts of perfection and truth is established, constitutive concepts of Logic in their aesthetic relation. In “Critic of Judgement”, a man is aware of being a self-constructing living organism who becomes talent, ability, culture and humanity, concepts that regulate a reasoning oriented towards the limits of a purposive without purpose of his own nature. Because of the latter, a transcendental principle can be expressed: a man is, among all the objects in the world, the only one capable of the ideal of beauty. This ideal is the representation of a singular being as for adequate to an aesthetic idea that synthesizes humanity in that person of that one man who “with regard to his intelligence, is the ideal of perfection” and as an idea or a regulative concept, he is oriented towards the representation of purposiveness limit of his own nature in his products.

Keywords : Technique; purposiveness; reflective judgement; creation; product.
