Abstract

This paper is part of a doctoral dissertation entitled: The desirable consensus, between Taylor’s view and contemporary cosmopolitanism. By a systematic reading oriented to problem, the paper introduces the conditions in order to reach the consensus into contemporary societies. Such conditions are: first, acceptation of thesis about the moral view is controversial (refutable), and the breaking with ethnocentrism during analysis of conflictive situations. First condition allow us to know about basic notions of Taylor’s thought, such as, self-comprenhension, shared moral background, and secular moral order. The second condition require a frame of cosmopolitan thought, and production of cross cultural knowledge, these are challenges to social sciences.
