Abstract

CANY, Bruno. Naissance de l’anthropologie philosophique: le moment sophistique. Prax. filos. [online]. 2019, n.49, pp.11-38. ISSN 0120-4688.  https://doi.org/10.25100/pfilosofica.v0i49.7951.

What is generally not perceived by philosophers, because of the original denigration of sophistry by philosophy, is that sophistry is not merely a word, but also a thought, and that this thought is critical. That it does not only propose a figure of man (anthropology), but also that it develops a reflection on the categories of this representation (philosophical anthropology). The man of sophistry is not content with being an ethico-political being, he is also a critical thinker. Taking into account this validity, we will endeavor to show the specificity of most of the great representatives of this movement.

Keywords : Sophists; Philosophical Anthropology; Nature; Culture; Logos.
