Abstract

RAMOS MEJIA, Tomás; JACKY ROSELL, Emiliano  and  PENCHANSKY, Celina. Reflections on the Uses of the Concept of Autopoiesis in Contemporary Philosophy. Prax. filos. [online]. 2024, n.58, e20413186.  Epub Jan 16, 2024. ISSN 0120-4688.  https://doi.org/10.25100/pfilosofica.v0i58.13186.

The concept of autopoiesis has had an important impact on the social sciences, philosophy and the humanities in general. Some contemporary intellectuals have made a critical appropriation of it and others have made a direct transposition from biology to their respective disciplines and fields of interest. The aim of this article is to develop a comparative study of certain critical and no-critical uses of the concept of autopoiesis that, for the most part, have so far not been examined in depth, let alone in a comparative way. These are works by researchers with diverse backgrounds, interests and ethico-political positions: Terry Winograd and Fernando Flores, Arturo Escobar, Félix Guattari, Rosi Braidotti, Sylvia Wynter and Donna Haraway.

Keywords : Autopoiesis; Cognition; Otherness; Community; Philosophy.
