Abstract

FERNANDEZ VARAS, Diego. To position and relate in the practice of ethnography (from South?). Liminality of the field work with the Mhuysqa community of Cota, Cundínamarca. univ.humanist. [online]. 2013, n.75, pp.105-131. ISSN 0120-4807.

This article questions the individual positioning, as researcher, and the collective, in the disciplinary practice, which involves reflexivity in anthropology. Its purpose, rather than presenting the research results, is to reflect on the role which we occupy as actors in social processes that we strive to study. To do this it seems necessary to reread certain aspects of the researcher's biographical itinerary in the light of its field works and the degree of involvement he has with regard to the people with whom he establishes a relationship. In order to clarify our liminal position it is necessary to question the category of researchers from the "South" in the field work and its consequences regarding the involvement and commitment that we can assume with the populations with which we work.

Keywords : Commitment; "South"; Mhuysqa; Criticism; Positioning; Liminality; Social antropology; Mhuysqa community; Indians of South America -Colombia.
