Abstract

FRANCO-AVELLANEDA, Manuel. Museums, Artefacts and Society: How Is Its Educational Dimension Configured?. univ.humanist. [online]. 2013, n.76, pp.97-123. ISSN 0120-4807.

This article presents a theoretical and methodological approach to identify the educational dimension present in socio-technical systems. It specifically explores how this dimension is configured in the conceptualization, building and appropriation processes of interactive artifacts in museums and interactive centers of science and technology; which objectives are to to popularize techno-scientific knowledge. Methodologically, the article presents a case study based on three theoretical components: A social constructivist framework, reflections of the feminist critique of technology and Freirean pedagogy. The paper closes with some reflections about the tackled problem and suggests key points for future research.
