Abstract

In the first section of this article, I present an international overview of the emergence of television history as an object for academic study. I then examine the theoretical and methodological difficulties faced by researchers, highlighting, though, the main research lines explored since the 90's. In the conclusion, I discuss the purposes and practices of the (scant) Brazilian tv historical studies, and reflect upon my own foray in the field.
