Abstract
MUNIZ ZUNIGA, Viviana and FONSECA VALIDO, Rafael Ángel. Contingent Conditions and the Establishment of the Media Agenda in Cuban Provinces: The Santiago de Cuba Case. Signo pensam. [online]. 2017, vol.36, n.70, pp.130-152. ISSN 0120-4823. https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.syp36-70.ccea.
This research analyzes the contingent conditions that influence the relationship between the media agendas of the provincial press of Santiago de Cuba and the public agenda of the province during 2014 and 2015, at the level of objects and attributes present in both dimensions. We applied a mixed sequential design, using analysis-synthesis and inductive-deductive methods, and techniques such as content analysis, Spearman correlation, participant observation, discussion groups, and surveys. The study shows there is a low thematic relationship between the agendas of the media analyzed and the public agenda, which is determined by the incidence of psychological and sociological nature factors, such as the need for orientation, types of topics, interest in the information, and media consumption, among others.
