Objective: To measure the probability of occurrence of nurse-made diagnoses, together with related factors and associated problems. Methodology: A cross study was carried out in a public hospital at the municipality of Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Two hundred and seventy diagnostic evaluations were made by nurses on children suffering from congenital heart diseases. For statistical analyses (probability rate) diagnoses with frequencies over 50%, related factors with frequencies above the 75 percentile, and the four most common associated problems were selected. Statistical significance was calculated with confidence intervals of 95%. Results: Twenty-two nurse-made diagnoses, 34 related factors, and 23 different associated problems were identified. Seventeen significant odds ratio were found among the diagnoses, 38 between them and the related factors, and 13 between the diagnoses and the associated problems. Discussion: The nurse-made diagnoses may be influenced by the alterations of blood flow and of oxygen saturation that are characteristic of patients with congenital heart diseases. Conclusion: The joint occurrence of diagnoses increases the probability of developing multiple human responses.
