UNGER PARRA, Bibiana. DE ORDINE THE PURSUIT OF BEAUTY. Univ. philos. [online]. 2011, vol.28, n.56, pp.129-140. ISSN 0120-5323.

Understanding aesthetics achieves essential components in Augustinian reflection on beauty. In De ordine, Augustine deals with the problem of beauty from a phenomenological viewpoint in so far as order and beauty are displayed in all the spheres of creation. Also, he moves towards an onto-theological regard where being and value are identified in their triple determination of the beauty, the good, and the truth. To approach the problem of beauty in Augustine allows us to set up many connections among several fields of philosophy, opening a dialogue between pre-modern and contemporary views on aesthetics as well.

Palavras-chave : De ordine; Augustine; beauty; aesthetics; phenomenology.
