ZANON, Andrei e TREVISOL, Márcio G. EL SUJETO ÉTICO EN LA CIVILIZACIÓN TECNOLÓGICA. LA PROPUESTA DE HANS JONAS. Univ. philos. [online]. 2014, vol.31, n.63, pp.143-166. ISSN 0120-5323. https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.uph31-63.sect.
Traditional ethics are not enough to meet the demands of the powers man achieves through technology. Its development has aroused in mankind a series of concerns demanding new ethical reflections on what is really valuable: life. Humanity urgently needs wisdom on responsible use the power technology implies. Kant proposed the autonomy of free will as the basis of morality. In order to know if a pure reason can determine the will without resorting to sensitivity and experience, he formulated an ethics of duty. Hans Jonas's proposal of an ethics of responsibility has a new imperative: the characteristics of the principle of responsibility. Showing that the ethical subject in a technological civilization is one who acts with care and caution, the ethics of responsibility makes explicit human duties towards Nature. So the principle of responsibility consists in taking responsibility for a caution and careful ethical behavior making a virtuous life worrying about and searching for a better life.
