The utilization of bibliometry in order to build representations of the scientific and technological production dynamics is supported on the treatment of the different information contained in scientific publications, above all in the articles, patents and investigation reports. The information gathered in the bibliographic base CAB of the documents integrated from 1997 to 2002, having authors linked with Colombian institutions or organizations, has been structured to make the present investigation themes emerge and in order to establish the contexts in which the themes identified as well as its evolutions are placed. Diverse utilizations of the structured information are noted.
