The use of medicinal plants was evaluated quantitatively to document the relative importance of these species and to estimate the current state of the traditional knowledge of the rural communities of the Sidewalk San Isidro, Municipality of San Jose de Pare, Boyacá. This area in particular, is considered an agricultural sector of high fork and it denotes an appropriation of the knowledge of its residents in the use and handling of the vegetable species of the region. 180 surveys were applied aleatorily to people between 20 to 80 years of age where the use and handling of the plants was studied. Programmed interviews were applied to those people that largely manage the demand of medicinal plants in the region. The data obtained from the consent of informants were analyzed by means of the Use Value (UV’s) and the level of significant use of TRAMIL. 84 species with 78 genus were registered, contained in 42 botanical families among medicinal, aromatic and magicreligious; the families better represented they were Lamiaceae, Asteraceae, Apiaceae, Solanaceae and Rutaceae. 10 species had higher level of significant use and 25 species had a larger Use Value. The documentation of the uses of the medicinal plants in the influence area reveals that the traditional knowledge continues deeply ingrained among the community and the popular knowledge stays at the hands of faith healers and mothers family head.
