ROA-ROMERO, HUGO A; SALGADO-MORA, MARISELA G  e  ALVAREZ-HERRERA, JAVIER. Analysis of the Structure Arborea Agroforestry System Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) in Soconusco, Chiapas - Mexico. Acta biol.Colomb. [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.3, pp.97-110. ISSN 0120-548X.

The abundance, wealth, size, fairness and diversity of trees found in cacao agroforestry systems was determined in Soconusco , Chiapas , Mexico . This research was conducted in the coastal region of Soconusco, located in the southern state of Chiapas . The municipalities of Huehuetán Tapachula and Tuxtla Chico were sampled, as the most representative in area planted with cocoa. In each municipality, were created at random seven parcels temporary 50 x 50 m each, which amount totalling 5.25 hectares , in which there were variables such as the diameter at breast height (DBH: 1.3 m above the soil), basal area, and grim in the cacaotal. We found 46 species grouped into 21 families, species with higher importance were Mangifera indica and Pouteria sapota, becoming species of shade most frequently encountered. The floral composition noted greater similarity in the municipalities of Tapachula and Huehuetán, as shown by the largest percentage index Jaccard and with regard to diversity, the town of Tuxtla Chico presenting the greatest value as the index Shannon . This study determined the existence of a definitive coverage preferably associated with fruit trees.

Palavras-chave : Shade trees; biodiversity; floristic composition; agroforestry.
