Abstract

ARMESTO, LUIS ORLANDO; TORRADO VARGAS, RICARDO A  and  ESTEBAN LLANES, JOSÉ B. Five Bird Species Poorly Known for Norte de Santander, Colombia. Acta biol.Colomb. [online]. 2013, vol.18, n.1, pp.199-204. ISSN 0120-548X.

We report five bird species poorly known for Norte de Santander based on observations in the urban area of the city of Cúcuta (department of Norte de Santander, Colombia). Two are nearctic/neotropical migratory birds (Coccyzus americanus and Protonotaria citrea). Although four species had been collected before in Cúcuta, their report has remained unnoticed. We record the geographical range extension for Paroaria nigrogenis to the north of its currently known distribution.

Keywords : Cúcuta; Norte de Santander; new records; Paroaria nigrogenis; Protonotaria citrea..
