Abstract

GARCIA-VILLAFUERTE, Miguel Ángel. A "pirate spider" (Araneae: Mimetidae) in early miocene amber and updating the list of the fossil spider in Chiapas, Mexico. Acta biol.Colomb. [online]. 2020, vol.25, n.1, pp.155-161. ISSN 0120-548X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/abc.v25n1.74722.

To contribute to the knowledge of the fossil spiders in Chiapas, Mexico, a "pirate spider" (Araneae: Mimetidae) is described and photographed in a piece of amber from the Municipality of Simojovel de Allende, with a geological age of 23 millions of years (My). This family was previously found in Baltic, Dominican and Indian amber. I present an updated list of fossil spiders for Chiapas amber, 20 described species have been registered. However, this number could increase, with the revision of new material.
